Sweep regularly, damp-mop only as needed, and protect the surface from grit, standing water, and dragging furniture. That's most of it.
The everyday routine
Three habits, and you're done.
Sweep or vacuum daily
Use a soft broom or a hard-floor vacuum setting. Dirt and sand act like sandpaper when left under shoes or furniture.
Wipe spills promptly
Topical moisture is easy to manage when it's cleaned up. Just avoid letting water pool at seams, edges, or transitions.
Clean with a neutral cleaner
A damp microfiber mop and a pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner are plenty. No wax, polish, steam mops, or mop-and-shine.

Most maintenance happens before damage starts.

Entry mats catch water, oil, and grit before they ever reach the floor.

- Add felt protectors
Put clean felt pads under chair, table, and furniture legs.

- Move heavy items carefully
Use hardboard runways or lift furniture instead of dragging it.

- Avoid rubber backing
Rubber or latex mats and feet can permanently discolor resilient flooring.
